It's not uncommon for the latest version of an app to cause problems when installed on older smartphones. Sometimes newer versions of apps may not work with your device due to system incompatibilities. Until the app developer has fixed the problem, try using an older version of the app. If you need a rollback of Google Chrome, check out the app's version history on Uptodown. Those handling the development of Google Chrome have announced yet another Developer release that fixes several interface bugs and improves the stability of the open source web browser. There’s also a fix for an issue plaguing Mac users in particular.

Google Chrome team member Jason Kersey is proud to inform geeks that “The Chrome Dev channel has been updated to 12.0.742.21 for all platforms,” which includes Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux PC users.

Kersey sheds light on the contents of the Dev update, noting that it “contains fixes for a number of UI, performance, and stability issues,” as well as a patch that addresses a Mac-only bug.

“It also contains an update for Mac […] that fixes garbage being displayed when the accelerated compositor was active,” he writes.

He elaborates, saying “This primarily affected 3D CSS transforms and WebGL content.”

As usual, Kersey directs Chrome fans to the SVN revision log where they can get the full scoop on the changes occurring with this release.

Testers are told not to be shy of the bug reporter and use it every time they stumble upon something that may need addressing in a future Chrome release.

Earlier this week, Google announced the first version of Chrome Canary for Mac OS X, a highly experimental version of the program targeting those who want to get an early peek at what’s in store for Chrome 12 Final.

Both Chrome Canary (v. 13.0) and Chrome Dev (12.0) are experimental, highly unstable releases of the browser. These versions are not to be relied upon, hence their ability to install alongside stable builds of Chrome without affecting them.

Users are advised not to rely on these versions for important tasks, but rather to employ them for testing purposes only.

Chrome requires at least Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), 128MB of RAM and an Intel processor to run on Macs.
